Fun, Motivational Programs on Creative Leadership & Wellness

HIGH SCHOOLS HOST "THE ART OF COLLEGE PARENTING"

Popular for years on college campuses, Lenny is now bringing a similarly important message to parents of college-bound high school seniors. With a focus on the academic and social transition from high school to college, this shared, 'live' experience has proven effective in helping to open up the lines of communication between parent and college-bound, teenage child. Effective? Listen to this feedback from parents...

"I wanted to let you know how very much my son and I enjoyed your talk last night. During our ensuing conversation, I finally heard him say… for the first time… that he now believes he has the confidence, knowledge, independence and skills for college and beyond."

"My daughter and I really enjoyed your presentation last night. Thank you for sharing your learning with us. Being a first-time parent of a college bound child, we both found it to be really helpful."

"Tremendous! You have a gift, Lenny, and my wife and I arrived at that conclusion independently."

"Your talk helped my son realize his self-confidence. As a parent, I can’t tell you how powerful that is! Thank you again for such a wonderful evening."

"Lenny, you’ve identified a target audience that has been under-served for too long!"

CREATIVE LEADERSHIP IN OUR NATION'S CAPITAL?

Yes, we'd all like to see that! However, this reference has to do with Lenny's return engagement at the 2010 ASGA (American Student Government Association) National Summit in Washington, DC in September. This will mark the 4th year in a row that Lenny has been invited to speak at ASGA. The conference hosts 600 students and advisors from 150 college and university campuses across the country. Visit www.asgaonline.com for more information.

AROUND THE WORLD... IN 4 HOURS!

Procter & Gamble International Transferees recently invited Lenny to present "Laugh Goes On" as a 4-hour humor and creativity workshop. This group is a unique blend of international employee spouses (and former employees) from around the world - 15 countries were represented in the room!

During lunch, Lenny sat with new friends from Iraq, Pakistan and Venezuela... you know, like he always does! The experience of that day taught a most valuable lesson to everyone about therapeutic humor: It's not about telling jokes. It's about sharing a smile and a laugh... and life gives us all the humorous material we need to find that common ground!

MENTAL HEALTH PROFESSIONALS & COMPASSIONATE CAREGIVERS

Looking back at 2009, two major "wellness" conference keynotes highlighted Lenny's year. The first was his featured keynote at the 8th Annual Children's Mental Health Symposium presented by Cincinnati Children's Hospital. The audience consisted of nurses, teachers, pediatricians, social workers and parents of children with mental health issues.

The other highlight was Lenny's capstone address at the inaugural SOCC Conference (Southwestern Ohio Caregivers Coalition) in Cincinnati. This huge event brought together 300 compassionate souls who work with Hospice, Alzheimers, Council on Aging, Red Cross, Elder Care and several other Wellness groups. Lenny's mission? To provide "grief relief." And, we're proud to report, "Mission Accomplished!"

LENNY'S "SENIOR" MOMENTS

Speaking with 'active seniors' about healthy humor is keeping Lenny quite busy these days! Summer saw Lenny in North Carolina at the Asheville JCC... and out to San Diego (Encinitas) for a combined audience of seniors from Seacrest Village and the San Diego JCC. Other midwestern cities and dates are being finalized as we speak.

COLLEGIATE CALLINGS

This past summer, Lenny returned to McKendree University in Illinois for the 4th year in a row, as his parent orientation program, "The Art of College Parenting," continues to be an annual favorite. He also presented it during Family Weekend to parents at the University of Illinois-Springfield. In the national fraternity world, Lenny presented the opening keynote at the Sigma Alpha Mu Leadership Conference in Dallas. Chapters from around the country sent their best men to be inculcated with the principles of fraternal leadership.

THE HEART OF THE MATTER

Some people, groups and organizations resist change. Others embrace it. Hats off to Metro Heart Group (St. Louis) for inviting Lenny to present his keynote, "But, We've Always Done It This Way" at their company-wide meeting. It was obvious that even though some changes bring great challenges, the associates in the largest cardiology group in St. Louis were ready to work through the process to achieve an exciting new "normal."

LENNY - ON THE AIRWAVES

Listen to Lenny's recent 20-minute podcast interview with Alan Smith on UnBreakYourHealth.com discussing healthy humor and laughter!

Want to hear more? Then, listen to Lenny's extended internet-radio interview with January Jones (the journalist, not the actress) on BigMediaUSA.com discussing creativity, humor and laughter! Lenny met January on the 2008 AATH Conference-Cruise, as she is a big believer in the mission of this healthy humor and laughter-oriented organization (see "AATH" below).

LENNY CONCLUDES HIS TERM AS AATH PRESIDENT

At the 2009 AATH Annual Conference (Association for Applied & Therapeutic Humor) held in Las Vegas, Lenny successfully completed his two-year term as President of this international, professional organization. Delivering what he called "the best speech of his life," the international audience was treated to Lenny's words of wit and an expression of his gratitude. "I'll never forget that night for as long as I live!"

The 2010 Annual Conference will be held in Anaheim, April 22-25 at Disney's Paradise Pier. Visit www.aath.org for more information.

Founded in 1987, the worthwhile mission of AATH is to serve as the community of professionals who study, practice and promote healthy humor and laughter. AATH members represent diverse fields such as health and wellness, seniors and aging, education, spirituality and faith communities.

EATING HIS WAY ACROSS NORTH AMERICA

Despite the occasional airport hot dog, Lenny has also found several wonderful restaurants while on the road. Here are just a few:

Panama City Beach (FL) - Boatyard. Great seafood, including the best shrimp cocktail I've ever had! Fun atmosphere overlooking the harbor.

Orlando - Charlie's Steak House (on International Drive). A meat-lovers paradise. It doesn't get much better than this!

Savannah - The Lady & Sons (in the City Market area). You've got to try the chowder. If sex was a soup, this would be it!

Little Rock - Sonny Williams Steak House (down by the river) is first class. Doe's Eat Place (yep, that's the name) looks like a run-down hole in the wall from the outside, which it is - but don't be fooled. Once you step inside, enjoy great family style eatin'.

St. Louis - Neruda (just across the river in Edwardsville, Illinois). A wonderful culinary experience from start to finish.

Charlotte - LaVecchia's Seafood (downtown). If you like seafood, you'll love the way they prepare it here. Thoroughly enjoyable.

McCormick & Schmick's (in 25 cities) - Great seafood, wonderfully prepared!

Cincinnati - Skyline Chili (many locations). A 3-way and a couple of cheese coneys have sustained many a Cincinnatian for lunch, dinner, and late at night!

Enjoy!
